The 9th day of our journey brings us Four Roses Bourbon, a “Bourbon Whiskey” that’s just 40% alcohol.

Some vanilla in the nose, and a nice smooth taste. There’s a bit of fire going down, but not much burn in the mouth, which is nice. This bourbon can best be described as “mild.” It’s the Clark Kent of bourbons. Or maybe not, because I don’t know if it changes into Superman when you’re not looking.
It’s definitely unassuming, polite, and gets along well with others. The Four Roses site says it’s a favorite for “creating mixed drinks with a sophisticated, contemporary flair” and I can see that. It’s drinkable straight, but doesn’t really reward you for the experience.
Two stars.
