Day 8 greets us with Blanton’s Gold Edition, a “Bourbon Whiskey” that’s 51.5% alcohol.

Wow. I really like Blanton’s, which we call the Holy Hand Grenade because of its globular bottle, and this is an exceptional version.
Spiciness in the nose and on the palate, smooth rich feeling, almost like honey but with booze in it. Golden is a good word for this bourbon. There are hints of vanilla in the flavor.
According to the site, the finish is long, with toffee and apple. I didn’t get apple, but toffee is definitely there.
The site also tells me that the Gold Edition is only offered in international markets, so thanks to the fine folks at Master of Malt for being from the UK and thus having access to this.
Four stars, and a new #1.
